The program prepares individuals for professional nursing practice in a variety of institutional and community settings, as well as for continuing education, graduate study, and roles as nurse leaders.

Extended campus facilities include a wide variety of community healthcare agencies for clinical experience. The School of Nursing has integrated extensive simulation labs which provide an enhanced learning experience.

Our students will be well-equipped to adapt to changing healthcare needs and environments, and to serve society through civic engagement and lifelong learning. Degree requirements can be found in the university's catalog. Prior baccalaureate students are exempt from completing the SJSU studies areas R and V requirement for graduation students complete areas S and Z in nursing program. Group advising is offered for students interested in applying to the program.

After these two spaces are filled, other applicants with prior service will be considered and ranked with others in the regular selection process. To be eligible for admission, students must have a minimum GPA of 3. The following corequisite courses are recommended to be completed prior to applying, but may be in progress during the semester an applicant completes the nursing application.

All prerequisite courses taken at campuses other than SJSU must be approved as equivalent. Another resource is Assist. Online coursework with labs will be accepted as long as the course articulates. For courses that do not appear on either articulation websites, applicants will need to complete a nursing substitution form, which must be submitted with course descriptions to the nursing undergraduate coordinator for approval before completing the nursing application.
