Windows xp pro sp3 label

The ListChanged event calls the procedure to update the labels. When I remove that call from the ListChanged event, the labels do not shrink. A ToolStripButton on the form is used to hide or update and display the labels. Toggling this button works as expected with no shrinking of the labels. The call to the label update procedure in the ListChanged event is conditioned on the state of the aforementioned ToolStripButton.

Originally, I had the Checked property of this button set to True which is the state that enables the call to the label update procedure in the ListChanged event. I set the ToolStripButton Checked property to False in the designer so that the label update can not take place until the user toggles the ToolStripButton to the checked state. This assures that the procedure is not called until after the form is loaded and visible.

I added back the conditioned call to the label update procedure in the ListChanged event with the result, once again, that the labels do not shrink. Unfortunately, at this point, when I restore the code and property settings to the state that previously produced shrinking labels, I no longer get shrinking labels. Therefore, I can not completely verify the otherwise apparent cause or fix.
